Movie: Religulous

Religulous is now screening at Academy Cinemas Auckland

Religulous follows political humorist and author Bill Maher (Real Time With Bill Maher, Politically Incorrect) as he travels around the globe interviewing people about God and religion. Known for his astute analytical skills, irreverent wit and commitment to never pulling a punch, Maher brings his characteristic honesty to an unusual spiritual journey.

For more information check out the Religulous Website and the Internet Movie Database.

Feedback Request: Statement on Religious Diversity

The Statement on Religious Diversity was launched two years ago. The NZARH has opposed the statement as it discriminates against the non-religious. The worst example of this is the clause on the right to safety which states "Faith communities and their members have a right to safety and security" and fails to reciprocate this right to others.

The statement is due to be reviewed in time for the Diversity Forum in August 2009. The NZARH made this submission on what we think needs to be done to the Statement.

Feedback Request: Religion in Schools

A draft paper Religion in Schools - Questions and Concerns prepared by the Human Rights Commission and Professor Paul Morris of Victoria University is now available for download on the Commission's website.

Before finalising and publishing the paper they are seeking further input from people and organisations who have a particular expertise or interest in this area. You are invited to provide comment on the draft by emailing the New Zealand Diversity Action Programme at nzdiversity@hrc.co.nz

The NZARH made a submission on an earlier draft of the Religion in Schools document last September and it is good to see that our suggestions for improvement have generally been heeded.
